About
Komune ART PROJECT 2012 (KAP2012) is back bigger and better this year after launching at the Quiky Pro in 2011. Komune are committed to supporting worthy causes and charities in particular in areas which we choose to surf and play. Our favourite charities right now are;Surf Aid whose mission is to improve the health, well-being and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing. Click for Surf Aid website Surfers for Cetaceans are committed to activating ocean-minded peopleeverywhere to support the conservation and protection of whales, dolphins and marine life.Click for S4C website Surf Life is run by Rick Cowley, an ex cancer patient who wants to inspire families to live outside the box and in the flow. One of the ways he does this is running surfing yoga retreats for young adults who have had cancer.More infoKomune wish to provide support Surf Aid, Surfers for Cetaceans and Surf Life and well as fostering and promoting the talents of surfing artists and have consequently created the Komune Art Project.Young Lennox Head Surfer Karlee Makee is the founding contributor and ambassador for the Komune Art Project and will be working closely with 8 surfing artists to create a series of paintings that best reflect how each artist feels about the surfing lifestyle they have chosen.A special event will be held FRIDAY 2 March 2012 during the Quiksilver Pro to sell these paintings with proceeds going to these very worthy charities. Ozzie Wright
Ozzie", "Oska", "Oz", Oscar Billy Pippen Wright is not your a-typical professional surfer, oh no, he is so much more then that. Artist, musician, film-maker; a winged manimal on a mission. Hailing from the Land Down Under, Sydney Australia to be exact, he has been riding for Volcom for ten years now. In that time he has also grown into an art juggernaut turning out beautifully spastic and distinctively raw pieces. Some of you may also know him simply as "Fang Fight Right the Wizard of Death" lead crooner of the wildly popular super-teen group "The Goons of Doom". With his band mates, Cut-Throat Cowboy, Vaughan Dead and Killer Whale having conquered the land behind the Orange Curtain they have since played Tokyo, Hollywood and are hoping to go to New York this year. He is also the man behind the pen behind the zine that is "Dope Comics". Ozzie is a bat-winged gypsy, a drifting son of a bat, a high flying rodent of many talents spreading his messy sort of sound and color to the world around him and we thank him for that!Ozzie Wright painting his work

Tylan Lambert
Only 18, Tylan has been painting for five years now, drawing inspiration from the ocean upon which he lives to develop a unique style that focuses upon the movement and appearance of water.Tylan never did art at school because he felt it too restricting in what you were allowed to paint, however, Tylan has been selling and exhibiting works for the past 4 years, winning various awards and was invited to exhibit in the annual Taj's Small Fries Exhibition in 2009 and 2010. Living within walking distance from iconic surf beaches, Tylan developed a love for surfing. In late 2009 he joined the Ocean Zone (Oz) surf team and through their help was able to gain a place in this amazing opportunity, The Komune Art Project, for the Quiksilver Pro.Tylan has just finished school and is taking a year off in which he would like to better promote himself as a surf artist, and hopes one day he will be able to travel the world surfing and painting.See more of Tylans work at www.tylan-lambert.blogspot.com
